The great Rock run!

TRADITION was upheld by crew members from HMS WESTMINSTER as 35 runners took on the now infamous Rock Race.

London Olympic 2012 bunting was proudly displayed when the runners reached the summit. The bunting was donated to the ship from the Mayor of London’s office following a plea from the ship to feel part of the proceedings.

Lt George Ridley (27) came in first with a fairly impressive time of 20 minutes 16 seconds.

The Rock Race is 2.7 miles with a height climb of 1300 ft. The event has been running for 50 years and the current record holder is Sub Lt Robinson from HMS GLASGOW, who completed the race in an unbelievable 17 minutes and 29 seconds on the 7th May 1983.
