Bossano's meetings for mutually beneficial cooperation

Minister Joe Bossano has returned to Gibraltar after attending the Crans Montana Forum in Azerbaijan. The forum was founded in 1989 in Switzerland and Mr Bossano had been present at past editions when he was Chief Minister from 1988 to 1996. The invitation to attend in 2012 was received by the previous administration prior to the General Election.

The Forum organises a number of events every year dealing with current issues which bring together Heads of States, Government Ministers, Academics and Business Leaders.

These events involve debates by a panel of speakers and are followed by workshops in which the matters under debate are discussed with all participants.

Joe Bossano was also invited by the Government of Azerbaijan to meet with the Minister for Labour and Social Protection to discuss areas of common interest such as ways of providing training and employment opportunities. The discussions were widely covered in BAKU by the local media. It was agreed that the contact in this area at ministerial level would be maintained and developed in future.

During the course of the conference, meetings were held with business and political leaders to explore the opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation with Gibraltar.

Some fifty states participated in the Conference.
